Thunder Lotus, Playdigious and Netflix have officially launched Spiritfarer for mobile, allowing subscribers to the streaming service to get the death-themed management game without intrusive ads or annoying in-app purchases. This "cozy death adventure" joins a new lineup of games offered by Netflix, and players will be able to play all of these mobile titles for free as long as they sign up.
In Spritfarer, players take on the role of Stella, a boatwoman who guides spirits in the afterlife. Players build a boat and travel around the world, meeting friendly spirits and quirky characters along the way. They can also do a little farming here and there, mining, harvesting and cooking. Of course, they can also fish, or relax with their spirit passengers on the boat and make special treats.
As the premise of the game says, in the end they will have to learn to say goodbye to their friends, and that is the bittersweet part of the game. But the memories of their otherworldly friends will last into the afterlife.
