The Gardens Between is a game in which the protagonists, childhood friends Arina and Frendt, fall into various surreal, dreamlike gardens on an island. Each island is filled with memories of their childhood, and there is a bit of mystery as to their meaning.

The Gardens Between quickly becomes a very emotional story about memories, friendship, and what it really means to know another person in your life. It sublimates into a bittersweet and somber story that will tug at the heartstrings by the time the credits roll.



In terms of gameplay, the game is a puzzle, represented by the variable flow of time. You manipulate this flow in your own way to move objects where they need to go to advance. While the puzzle mechanics are decently deep, this is a narrative-driven game, and the main goal of the game is to see the interaction between two people.

The Gardens Between has received an abundance of praise since its release in 2019, and rightfully so.
